Artistic Intelligence
An exhibition in Fitzrovia. It's just round the corner from Warren Street tube.
Jake and Dinos are currently part of Artistic Intelligence, an ArtCan exhibition curated by Cat Coulter, Lee Eveson and Rebecca Tucker.

Here’s the blurb…
‘Artistic Intelligence is a celebration of the irreplaceable creativity, intuition, and imperfection of the human hand. In an age increasingly shaped by algorithms and automated image-making, this exhibition brings together works that bear the physical traces of touch, brushstrokes, carved surfaces, stitched threads, smudged graphite, and the intentional mistakes that machines cannot replicate. Highlighting the artist’s presence as both maker and thinker, Artistic Intelligence invites viewers to reconsider the value of process, material, and the uniquely human capacity for emotional translation. This exhibition will reaffirm that true artistic intelligence is rooted in lived experience, tactile experimentation, and the singular perspective of the human creator.’
It’s one of the most beautifully hung group (50 artists*) exhibitions I’ve seen for a while. Not that I get to many these days. Other than the ones I’m in, and not even those sometimes.
That said, I forgot to take pictures of the hang. Typical. Below are some phone photos of the art. They are a poor substitute for the real thing, of course. Apologies to both reader and artist for glare-reflection-wonkiness. I’ve taken a side view of some, since all you could see, straight on, was my high-gloss-cheap-suncreamed mug. I hope I haven’t missed anyone.
Also, and kudos to ArtCan for this, the prices are visible without the awkward asking. Anyone who has known me for longer than an hour, knows how much I hate it when galleries make you jump through hoops to find out the price of an artwork. Not everyone has the posh confidence to ask. For the record, most of the works are less than £1000, with 26 being £500 or less, and 6 of those are less than £250.
Artistic Intelligence 11am - 5pm on 29/30th May, and 11am - 2pm on 31st May. I’m invigilating on the 31st. If you’re in the area, come and say ‘Hi’. Fitzrovia Gallery, 139 Whitfield St, London W1T 5EN. Free to view and most of the work is for sale. Sponsored by Suna Interior Design.
